Structural Integration is the work of Dr Ida P Rolf. It is a combination of movement education and myofascial bodywork that affects posture and function of the body to restore it to it's natural state of alignment and balance, by lengthening, restoring and reorganizing the FASCIA, the connective tissue matrix of the body. SI is designed to bring bodies back into postural balance. The work is done on a massage table with client dressed in underwear, shorts, and for females: tube top, athletic bra, or two piece bathing suit. I do a postural assessment in order to decide where the work is most beneficial for the structural integrity of the body. I am certified by Thomas Myers of KMI (Kinesis Myofascial Integration), and follow the 12 series format of Structural Integration. This work is very different than traditional massage, as the client is participating in the session work with active movement as the work is applied by the practitioner. This work may not only improve posture, and function, but increases the clients awareness of their own body. SI works with the fascia, which is the bodies internal system of flexible support, surrounding muscle, bones and organs, giving it strength and shape. SI was developed by Dr Rolf starting in the 1920's, and is today practiced around the world, and taught by around 20 schools belonging to IASI - International Association of Structural Integrators Magnus Eklund does not claim to be a Rolfer TM nor to teach Rolfing TM.

Magnus Eklund LMT 144 is a Structural Integrator and Yoga teacher from Sweden, now residing in Jackson, MS. He has an office on 2626 Southerland Street in Jackson, a part time office in Gulfport, MS and a part time office at Therapeutic Kneads Day Spa in Hattiesburg, MS. He is a graduate of Lillsveds Sports Institute in Stockholm Sweden, where he studied Anatomy and Physiology, and Therapeutic Movement. He has studied Bodywork since 1992, and has had an office in Mississippi since 1994. In 1996 he was selected as a sports massage therapist to the Atlanta Olympic games athletes medical team. He has worked with Chiropractors and Medical Doctors in a Pain management clinic, and with professional athletes. He worked with the dancers at the 2010 USA International ballet Competition in Jackson, MS. He specializes in Structural Integration, working with improving posture and functional movement. My workshops addresses the forgotten soft tissue, the fascia, as well as superficial and core (deep) muscles, perhaps the key to improving functional movement, and ease muscular aches and pains. I teach a combination of advanced Deep Tissue and Myofascial techniques to address various problem and over-use conditions that we as Massage Therapists see in our practice on a regular basis.
