CEU Massage Therapy Workshop Schedule 2008:
Massage therapy can be hard on your body. Over the last 15 years I have searched for and found a better way to work! Let me show you how to be highly effective without hurting yourself in the process!
Work smarter! Not harder!

European Kinetic Massage – a type of massage incorporating movement simultaneously with massage strokes for a more effective release of fascia and muscle tissue. These techniques, originating in Sweden and Germany, allow for relief of chronic pain often immediately and with permanent results. Deep tissue, myofascial therapy, connective tissue massage (sometimes called bindegewebs massage), direct pressure, muscle energy work, PNF, stretching and trigger point work are all utilized in this form of medical massage. I also teach orthopedic and postural assessment techniques in these seminars.

Problem Conditions I - chronic neck and shoulder pain, rotator cuff pain, bicipital tendonitis, golfer’s and tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, and thoracic outlet syndrome

Problem Conditions II - Sciatica & Piriformis Syndrome, chronic low back and hip pain, S-I joint dysfunction, chronic knee pain, IT Band Friction Syndrome, achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, and shin splints

Thai Yoga Bodywork: On the Table – an ancient healing massage with its roots from Thailand and India. Presented in a new and innovative way for today’s massage therapist. Thai massage is one of the most effective ways of improving range of motion and reducing pain. This massage combines pressure point meridian work, highly effective myofascial stretching, powerful breathwork, and rhythmic, rocking deep tissue compressions to deliver an incredible sense of lightness and openness in the body. I have found that most massage therapists prefer to work on the massage table. Therefore, I have created a routine of Thai Massage designed for table work. I have not changed the traditional guidelines for delivering Thai massage. I’ve merely made it more accessible for the average massage therapist to learn safely.
Connective Tissue Massage - The missing link in massage therapy! All structures in the body are surrounded by fascia, a connective tissue binding together the body’s organs and systems. Connective tissue massage utilizes enhanced body mechanics using gravity to your advantage; and advanced deep tissue structural alignment techniques in combination with highly effective myofascial techniques to release restrictions in the fascial matrix to significantly improve posture/alignment of the body. By first preparing the tissue with myofascial techniques, we can then more effectively apply deeper muscle work with less discomfort - and less post treatment soreness to the client. I have also found the results are longer-lasting.

“Fascia is the organ of posture. Nobody ever says this; all talk is about muscles. Yet this is a very important concept…..especially the anatomy of fascia. A spider web is in a plane: our body’s web is in a sphere. We can trace the lines of that web to get an understanding of how what we see in a body works.” – Ida Rolf

Sport Specific Massage – Tennis, Golf & Running
– In this workshop we are going to focus on the recreational athlete that most of us often work with on a day-to- day basis. In my experience from sports massage, there is big difference in working on professional athletes versus recreational athletes. The weekend warriors are usually not as technically polished or biomechanically sound as the professional athlete. Therefore, the stress points on their bodies are somewhat different. We will explore sport-specific massage in common recreational sports such as tennis, golf, and running. We will talk about common sport-specific injuries and how to prevent and treat each condition.
